Summers Not the Same Without You
Marianne Cole

Sunlight dances on the bay
Radio plays our song each day
Waves still crash and ghost still cry
But I just sit and wonder why
Your towels gone from the sandy shore
No footprints leading to my door
The boardwalk glows in twilight gold
But your warm hand I no longer hold
Cuz summer's not the same without you
The sky is still blue, but feels less
True
No ice cream smile
No midnight laugh
Just echoes down the phone
They say the seasons come and go
But why do you leave before the show?
No, summer's not the same without you
That old beach shack we used to share
Still hums with music in the air
But I just close my eyes and sway
Pretend you never went away
Yes, summer's not the same without you
The breeze still sings
But not like you do
No dancing slow
Beneath the moon
Just whispering tunes
In an empty room
They say the sun will shine again
But not like when you held my hand
No, summer's not the same
Without you
Summer's not the same
Without
You
